Project Description

Our customers knew that they had to update their cramped and aging kitchen, but they wanted to keep the old-fashioned grace and charm that drew them to their classic 1920s two-story brick home in the first place. We balanced their needs by working within the original style of the home, streamlining the floor plan, and adding the preparation areas and modern conveniences without losing the charming flavor of the original spaces.

The kitchen had aging cabinets and appliances, dim lighting, little counter space, and an awkward work triangle. The refrigerator and stove were crammed together against one wall, leaving just enough space for a strip of cabinets and counter were so narrow that the microwave had to be put in the next room. The position of the sink was opposite of most of the counter space which made it uncomfortable for one person to cook and virtually impossible for two

We solved our clients' space woes and simplified their floor plan by moving the doorway that cramped the work area into the nook next to the kitchen. This let us add preparation space, spread out the work triangle, and reduce congestion in the kitchen without spreading into the cozy nook that gave the area much of its unique country charm.

We finished off the project by updating the color scheme and installing new appliances, overhead and task lighting, custom cabinets, and beautiful surface materials like the Wilson Art SSV countertops and backsplashes and WilsonArt laminate flooring.
