Client Comments:
"The initial design [of this project] met all of our objectives and needs. There was very little change between the initial presentation and the final plan - mostly fine tuning the selection of materials. The time to complete was on target with the estimated time given at the start of the project. The installation of the cabinets compensated well for the unevenness of existing ceilings and floor. [We are] very satisfied with the end result."
Before:
The "before" kitchen was original to the 1984 home and needed a complete overhaul. The major issue for the couple was that it was too small and separate from their main living space. They wanted their kitchen to flow into their under-utilized dining room. They wanted updated cabinetry with more storage, replace their appliances, add visual interest with a new backsplash design, and replace their existing flooring with new hardwood.
After:
To begin the renovation, we removed the walls enclosing the kitchen. A space defining element was generated through a unique dual-level island with beautiful glass display cabinets. The glass cabinets also served as an area of visual interest upon entry into the home. The island housed a new microwave location as well as deep drawer storage for pots and pans. We allowed for seating at counter height with taller end cabinets to hide kitchen clutter. The island also features a traditional tongue and groove bead board and substantial base molding.
The cabinetry was a pecan cherry wood with a classic raised-panel door. We incorporated superior cabinet details such as deluxe matching end panels, light rail molding, and full-extension soft-close drawer glides. The color scheme began with the warm cherry cabinetry and gained inspiration with the lively multi-tonal granite. These tones led to us choosing a natural maple for the wood floor and a cream-golden backsplash tile.
The stainless steel and the darker tones in the granite were tied together with a charcoal glass liner in the backsplash and a blacksmith finish on the hardware and light fixtures. All the warmth was balanced with a medium earthy green for the wall color, which went throughout the main living areas. New dimmable lighting was sprinkled throughout with pendants, a chandelier, recessed cans, and under-cabinet thin-line fluorescents.
Everything came together to give our clients the kitchen they’d always wanted – open, warm, classic, and beautiful.
