Basement Finish over $100,000

The goal of this project was to convert the unfinished basement area into a multi-purpose area. The homeowner wanted it to include a playarea for her children, a media center, a wet bar, a game area, a guest bedroom and a full bathroom.

Please note the curved soffits. They add interest and a designer element to the basement. They were hand molded from flexible track.
The bar area includes a refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, speedcook oven and plenty of storage. It is certainly a well-stocked area and perfect for entertaining!
The columns are structural piers that are wrapped in cherry paneling. We constructed the paneling and stained to match the Medallion cherry cabinetry. All of this was done on the jobsite.

The bookcase was custom-made to fit into an odd-shaped corner. Although empty now, the homeowners plan to use it to display family pictures. Also note the L-shaped bar area. We designed this to the specifications of their couch so that it would fit into the space. It is 42" high with a granite top and is designed to add seating close to the TV area. Perfect for when people are over for a big game or a movie!

The guest area can truly be considered a bedroom because of the addition of an e-gress window to the area (it allows a full-sized fireman to enter the room with all of the gear in case of a fire). It also adds more light to the area and makes it feel more like a bedroom and less like a basement. There is plenty of room for 2 twin beds and a dresser. There are also two full-sized closets and a bathroom down the hall for convenience for their guests.
