Making the Most of a Smaller Kitchen

This kitchen had real possibilities for improvement.  It was your typical boxed-in kitchen with a wall separating a formal dining area.  Though the kitchen wasn't huge, it had some great potential.

The wall separating the kitchen and formal dining room was taken down.  We enclosed the existing doorway from the kitchen to hallway to make the kitchen an efficient and functional L-shape.  Another great element to improve function and efficiency for the homeowners was an added prep sink.  The three-person seating around the island was planned so the family of three could be seated at the island.  An added benefit is the client's daughter could now use the island for homework or school projects.

A great element of visual interest was added with two variations of granite countertops with a natural slate tile floor and customized limestone backsplash.
