The existing arrangement of this master bathroom was fairly awkward. The bath is off of the master bedroom, and in the existing layout you first walked into a "dressing area" (not the best layout because it is in front of a large window in the front of the house!). There was a closet on one side of the dressing area and the bath on the other side.

The homeowner wanted an area that was fairly modern and an open and relaxing space. We removed the wall between the existing dressing area and the bathroom and a linen closet to create one large bath area.
We created a custom furniture-looking piece from maple Medallion cabinets. We included two frosted glass inserts in two parts of the base cabinets and also in the wall cabinet. Custom-made hardware from Colonial Bronze was used on all of the drawers and doors.
A makeup area was specially designed to utilize a corner that had formerly been the corner of the dressing area. Kresge Contracting, Inc. designed the makeup table and had it custom made by Fortin Ironworks.
We converted the tub to a large, luxury shower. The shower includes a handheld sprayer with 3-spray patterns. The valve used allows the shower head to be on independently, the shower head and the handheld to be on simultaneously, or the handheld to be on independently. The handheld is on a slide bar to allow the user to sit on the bench and take a shower. |
