Frequently Asked Questions - Frequently Asked Questions
Kresge Contracting, Inc. was founded in 1983 by Mark Kresge. We have been providing quality, full-service remodeling services in and around for more than 26 years.
OUR INITIAL CONSULTATION IS FREE OF CHARGE! We’ll meet either at your home or in our office, where we'll discuss your needs and desires. From this meeting, we can generally give you a general budget or estimate. Depending on the type and complexities of your project, we may recommend that you proceed with a design agreement to nail down more details of the project with full design plans that are yours to keep and a quote specified to your project specifications. Visit our “Design” page to learn more about estimates, budgets and quotes, as well as the design process and how it improves the remodeling process.
Kresge Contracting, Inc. is a full-service contractor with specialty experience in several areas. This means we are able to work with you through the entire remodeling process and provide you with the best service. If you’ve remodeled before, you know that it can be stressful. Rather than working with several different contractors to accomplish your needs, prepare for a seamless experience that saves you time, reduces stress, and provies you with a newly remodeled space that meets the highest standards for quality and craftsmanship. Where appropriate, we also incorporate the use of a specialty service subcontractor, ensuring that your project is completed with the utmost safety, security and quality.
Our experienced staff and specialty trade subcontractors are able to provide quality design services in addition to all aspects of remodeling, such as plumbing, wall relocation/removal, flooring installation, cabinet installation, custom carpentry work (such as furniture piece cabinets or islands), framing, and so much more! We have also developed a network with qualified specialty contractors for those services we don’t typically perform as stand-alone projects, such as roofing. This network is comprised of quality contractors who have an excellent track record and a long history of working with us. So, when a project comes up that we wouldn’t handle ourselves, we are happy to provide a reference to a quality contractor that we trust to take great care of you.
All of our design/remodel projects are carefully created, planned, and constructed through our integrated design/remodel process. First, we work with our clients to gain a thorough understanding of their wants and needs for their remodeling project. Within those wants and needs, we develop the details to be incorporated into the project design. A preliminary design is produced from this information, usually with computer-generated conceptual drawings. A review meeting with the client further refines the design and revisions are made to ensure the project fits the client's needs and goals. A final plan proposal, including detailed specifications, are presented in a final design meeting with our clients. (Click to learn more about our design process or visit "Our Process".) Once the proposal is accepted and the contract signed, we schedule the project on our construction calendar. Before the project is started, our clients know EXACTLY what is included in the remodeling project, how much it will cost and how long it will take to complete. Once construction starts, we promise to follow through with whatever it takes to deliver a top-quality remodeling project. After completion, we follow up to ensure we met your expectations and guarantee our work with our comprehensive, systems and structural warranties.
Yes. Our DESIGN TEAM will assist you in selecting all products like doors, hardware, trim, cabinets, countertops, plumbing and electrical fixtures, flooring, paint colors, specialty items, etc. These are normally chosen to closely match the existing items in your home or specific design tastes.
Kresge Contracting, Inc. has developed an impeccable reputation for our professionalism, our communication skills, our relationships with suppliers and trades people, and our quality work…and we provide a three tiered workmanship warranty, including a one year comprehensive, five year systems and ten year structural workmanship warranty. Our record of integrity (winner of the 2008 Central Ohio BBB Integrity Award) and excellence in design and craftsmanship (winner of local, regional and national awards, including the National Contractor of the Year Award through NARI) demonstrate our dedication to provide our clients with the best work for a fair price.
Our contract price is guaranteed as long as the scope of work and specifications don't change. Kresge Contracting, Inc. provides very detailed proposals so you will know exactly what is included and what isn't.
It’s important to note that Kresge Contracting will not charge more than the original contract price unless you request additional work or we incur additional costs beyond what is stated in our contracts. Given our level of experience, we typically can anticipate ahead of time any potential problems that may arise…problems often overlooked by other contractors. Should a Client ask for a “change order,” such as a product upgrade, or additional work to be performed, then additional fees will apply. Also, unforeseen conditions like underground obstacles, decayed framing, hidden duct work, pipes or wires, etc may require additional charges. Likewise, if a “change order” results in a credit, money will then be issued back to the Client.
Any work that will create an additional charge will be performed only after a written Change Order has been authorized by the Client. We do not spring a surprise “extras” bill on our Clients…we stay on top of extras and credits on a regular basis so the Client is always aware of where they stand on costs.
We do absolutely everything possible to keep your project moving along quickly. We never take on more projects than we can handle at any given time and therefore our projects rarely sit idle. If there is work that can be done on a given day, someone will be there working.
We are very sensitive about project neatness and cleanliness. We want a clean, neat, and safe jobsite, both inside and out. We will implement interior dust control measures and we strive to remain very vigilant throughout the project. Although remodeling can be and often is very dusty and dirty, we take many precautions to minimize the inconveniences to our Clients that a remodeling project might bring.
Most of our projects are completed while our clients occupy their homes. Remodeling can be a little inconvenient and messy, especially when it comes to interior living spaces like kitchens and bathrooms. Our clients find our team of mature craftsmen and professional tradesmen to be very courteous, conscientious and accommodating. But, if your project is extensive, it may become more practical for you to temporarily move out. We can discuss your specific situation prior to scheduling your project.
All of our team members are professional, enjoyable people with very friendly personalities - all of which you will gladly welcome into your home. In fact we've been asked several times how we’ve managed to find such a good group of people! We’ve even been told by numerous clients that they will "miss us when we’re gone." Just ask any of our references!
All of the work we do is guaranteed by a three-tiered workmanship warranty, including a one year comprehensive workmanship warranty, five year systems workmanship warranty and a ten year structural workmanship warranty. Other warranties relating to specific products fall under manufacturer's warranties. We strive for perfection… however, if ever any defects were to appear that are found to be caused by a mistake in our workmanship, we come back promptly to make the necessary repair! Want to learn more? Just ask!
We are happy to provide references related to your project type for you to contact regarding our past services and performance.
